So you start wondering which key opens the front door of the liter class each and every year for this manufacturer. An appropriate answer would be innovation as new systems are continuously being developed and implemented by Yamaha on its machines. The new R1 is probably the best example. Pretty surprisingly, that is. In order to have the engine deliver more linear power and the bike to remain a favorite of its class, Yamaha engineers turned their eyes to MotoGP machines.
They implement crossplane crankshaft technology involving high-tech uneven firing interval. This eliminates unneeded inertial crankshaft torque allowing compression torque to be built smoothly and so the engine to deliver linear power when accelerated hard. It would be like riding on top of a V-Twin at low revs and on a mighty inline four at high revs.Kamar kasna in english
Being completely reengineered, the engine features a host of changes that are meant to keep pace with the new technology: the coupling-type balancer rotating in the opposite direction as the crankshaft, new forged aluminum pistons, lightweight titanium intake valves, and a forced air intake system.
This last increases intake efficiency by using the natural airflow airing riding to pressurize the air in the air cleaner box. More air into the engine means more power and that can only be good with the new technologies that smoothen out the ride while making the bike more competitive than ever before on the race track.
From race track motorcycles, Yamaha inspires to add the Chip Controlled Throttle to the fuel-injected engine and the fly-by-wire technology for awesome throttle response at all engine rpm. Easy to activate, the variable throttle control makes the R1 an easier bike to ride. The chassis also contributes to that as it features new everything.
The best of it is that it features standard electronic steering damper. The aluminum frame itself is a piece of engineering, combining CF die-cast magnesium, contributing to awesome mass centralization while the smart, MotoGP-inspired SOQI front forks share tasks to its arms.
So compression damping to the left fork, rebound damping to the right fork. They still move together so you get maximum efficiency with minimum effort. At the rear end, the new SOQI rear shock also achieves maximum performance thanks to the new bottom linkage working closely with the rest of the chassis. Goodies such as the gear position indicator make life on board more interesting and complete the new instruments panel.
Engineers did that by adding a C-ABS braking system which results in instant improved lap times and more rider confidence. Yamaha marks the big revision by totally redesigning the bike into a slightly less aggressive, still sharp, but more mysterious looking product. Why is that? Well, Honda decided to go for the smooth design in what, did you think that the R1 is the only one that is restyled? This makes room for the repositioned ram air ducts and also leaves the front end looking damn…interesting.
On the sides, the fairing is smooth and provides impeccable air flow. Earlier Yamaha R1 models would have featured a sharper design, but this simple one proved more effective after all. Also interesting on the R1 is the shape of the gas tank, which is developed using 3-D simulation analysis technology and the production process is called press-forming. The tank has also a practical role as its elongated shape allows it to be positioned well within the frame and contribute to a lower and more concentrated center of gravity.Yamaha launched the YZF-R1 after redesigning the Genesis engine to create a more compact engine by raising the gearbox input shaft and allowing the gearbox output shaft to be placed beneath it.
This 'stacked gearbox' was followed by other manufacturers. Compacting the engine made the engine much shorter, allowing the wheelbase to be shortened.
This allowed the frame design to place the weight of the engine in the frame to aid handling because of an optimized center of gravity. The instrument panel was electrical with a self diagnosis system and digital speed readout. This created a high powered and high torque engine.Yamaha R1 - CRASH Compilation [HD]
The R1 saw only minor changes, apart from paint and graphics. More improvements were a redesigned gear change linkage and the gear change shaft length being increased. Fuel tank reserve capacity was reduced from 5. InYamaha introduced a series of changes to improve the bike, and minor changes to the bodywork to allow for better long duration ride handling. Yamaha's main design goal was to sharpen the pre-existing bike and not to redesign it.
At The headlight housing's profile was sharpened, the side panels were made more aerodynamic and slippery, and the windscreen was reshaped for better rider protection.
The seating area was also updated. The fuel tank was reshaped, with a more relaxed rear angle and deeper leg recesses to provide for a better rider feel. The seat extended further towards the rear of the tank and the new, steeper, seating position put additional weight on the front end.Cateterismo en ingles es
All of this was aimed at improving weight bias and offering sharper cornering and more stability. The redesigned camshafts were lightened and used internal oil ways to lubricate journals that, when combined with reduced tappet clearance, provided less friction and created less engine noise. The gearbox received a taller first gear, a hollow chrome moly shift shaft with an additional bearing and a completely redesigned shift linkage and foot pedal. These changes were aimed at eliminating problems with the transmission in earlier models, and to help to seamlessly transfer the bike's power to the road.
A new fuel injection system was introduced for the year, which worked like a carburetor by employing a CV carburetor slide controlled by vacuum created by the engine. With a similar power output to the bike, the engine remained largely the same. One notable improvement was the use of new cylinder sleeves of a high silicon content alloy containing magnesium that minimized heat induced distortion, reducing oil consumption. Also inYamaha released the newly developed Deltabox frame, which, with its hydro formed construction, reduced the total number of frame welds.
The cooling system was redesigned for better performance and compactness. The exhaust system was changed from a 4-into-1 to a new titanium 4-intointo-1 design. The rear end of the motorcycle was updated and streamlined with a LED taillight. This allowed for very clean rear body lines when choosing one of several common after market modifications, such as removal of the turn signal stalks and stock license plate bracket; and replacing them with assorted available replacements that "hug" the body or frame.
Also, front end lighting was improved inbetween the higher definition headlights and also side "parking" lights within the twin-headlight panel, giving a more angular appearance.
This also gave additional after market possibilities, such as to remove the front turn signals and use these front lights as directional or hazard markers while stopped. Forthe only change was fitted hazard warning lights and dipped headlights, which stay on all the time the engine is running. With the competition advancing, Yamaha made some major changes to the model.
This included style updates, like an under seat twin exhaust, and performance upgrades including radial brakes, and, for the first time an R1 Ram-air intake.
Furthermore, the tendency for wheelies by earlier productions was reduced by changing the geometry of the frame and weight distribution. The all-new engine was no longer used as a stressed member of the chassis, and had a separate top crankcase and cylinder block. The conventional front brake calipers were replaced by radially mounted calipers, activated by a radial master cylinder.Picture credits - Yamaha. Submit more pictures. A windtunnel-tested skin on the YZF-R1 mostly contains all the goodies, but leaves a bit more of the engine visible than is typical of supersport -level machines. Tiny LED headlights take care of business from their unobtrusive little niches at the top of the cowling scoop, and since the turn signals come integrated with the mirrors, they add no extra drag of their own.
A bubble canopy gives the TFT display a measure of protection as well as creates a minimal, race-style pocket that you really have to tuck into to get any protection, but the clip-on bars and jockey-mount pegs encourage that kind of posture anyway. The 4. It comes with a skinny p-pad that may prevent any bruised tailbones or naughty bits, but not much else.
At the terminus, the mudguard mounts the tag and rear turn signals so, like the mirrors and winkers up front, it provides an all-in-one assembly for quick raceday prep. The R1 and the R1M start to diverge a bit in the support structure. Not in the bones itself — both run the stressed-engine Deltabox frame derived from the M1 project — but in the suspension components.
The base R1 runs some nice gear to be sure, with inverted KYB stems that float the front end on 4. Out back, a KYB monoshock springs off the long, boomerang-shaped swingarm with the same travel figure and adjustments plus a spring-preload feature because, well, because people expect it no matter what kind of bike it is. The factory added two new settings for track tackling performance with a road-friendly response curve and three rider-programmable profiles that allow you to dial it in for yourself.
Stupidfast bikes need crazy-strong brakes, and the factory obliges with dual mm discs up front and a mm disc out back. As with the suspension, the brakes benefit from the 3D, six-axis inertial measurement unit that feeds data to the ABS. It allows for the fact that the braking effort shares the same finite amount of traction and prevents you from pulling a lowsider from overbraking in a curve.
Of course, that demand washes through a number of electronic safety systems before it gets to the engine. The Quick Shift System was updated to allow for seamless, push-button shifting both up and down the rangeas did the Wheel Lift Control so it will generate more drive while trying to keep the front wheel on the ground.
Power modes, Launch Control, Traction Control, and Slide Control add to the fandanglery to help you manage all that power, and most of us will need as much help as we can get since the mill churns out a staggering horsepower and Huh, not with me on it.
The 70 mm bore and A slipper clutch adds another layer of traction-patch protection with a six-speed gearbox to crunch the ratios and send power to the rear wheel via O-ring chain drive.
An asymmetrical headlight arrangement gives the BMW a distinctive mug head-onand the fuel tank hump is bit more dramaticbut bike design at this level is driven entirely by performance so aesthetics are merely a vanity here. The Yamaha R1 is like no in-line-four cylinder sportsbike ever produced. Thanks to the clever engine design it grunts off corners like a V-twin, while giving superb feel through the rear tyre, and howls along straights like the mad, bad in-line-four it really is. Weight distribution is now The riding position is more compact bars are 10mm closer to rider, the seat 7.
The wheelbase is down 5mm to mm.
An R6-type magnesium subframe, shorter titanium end cans and a shorter, lower fuel tank improve mass-centralisation. Footrests are now two-way adjustable, mm up and 3mm back. The 43mm upside down forks now have independent damping, compression in left, rebound in right leg. Yamaha says this improves the damping response. The rear shock has a new bottom link set-up and a new hydraulic preload adjuster. The steering damper is now speed sensitive, controlled electronically.
The master cylinder lever ratio is improved and lightened by 25g and the lever shape itself is new. The rear tyre profile is up from 50 to section for better side grip. That would normally make for a peaky power delivery, but new crank and firing order fill in the low and mid-range grunt. Peak power remains the same as before, but torque is up by 2ftlb.
Peak power is now bhp 12,rpm, while torque is 85ftlb 10,rpm. The most noticeable difference compared to previous R1s is how quickly it accelerates out of corners. As before, the motor has forged aluminium pistons, fracture-split conrods, ceramic composite plated cylinders, titanium inlet valves and exhaust and a slipper clutch. The piggy back generator has been moved down to the end of crank to make room for the new, lower fuel tank.
The fuel injection system, featuring electronically controlled variable length inlet trumpets, now has shower injectors in upper airbox like the Yamaha R6. The fly-by-wire throttle system is modified to give better control of air intake volume. The Yamaha YZF-R6 was already commercialized as an unbeatable combination of power and handling in the middleweight super sport class and the model year shows how things can be pushed even further after receiving the proper feedback from the previous model year.
Year after year we find ourselves wondering how much further can the amazing middleweight powerplants be improved or how much better can these things end up looking and it would seem that the possibilities are endless. They actually are, but Yamaha claims their R6 as the best. Only time will tell if that is true so all we can do is take you through the one-off features and help you form an impression that not even time will change.
The engine is the already consecrated cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder; DOHC, 16 titanium valves. Fuel injection is what counts and with their Chip Controlled Intake and Chip Controlled Throttle, Yamaha achieve the engine performance that is so hard to vie with. What counts a lot in the lap times fight is also the clutch. In this case, a slipper-type back torque-limiting unit helps at fast braking and downshifting so that can be done as late as possible before a corner.
2018 - 2021 Yamaha YZF-R1 / R1M
The Deltabox frame ensures outstanding handling and the fully-adjustable fork and rear shock are suitable both for street and track use. As expected, the brakes are among the most advanced you get mm floating disc; radial-mount four-piston calipers up front and mm disc, single-piston caliper at the rear and they also prove high efficiency both on and off the track.
Weight is also very important when speed is the goal and at a lbs wet weight, Yamaha seems to have sorted that problem out if they ever had it pretty well.
This also makes for faster braking and sharper cornering.
2018 - 2020 Yamaha MT-09
Following the footsteps of the R1, Yamaha introduced the first R6 in In was a light But was the year of changes for the notorious model and the fuel-injection system, swingarm, five-spoke wheels and a revised frame surely suited it well. They aimed towards perfection and the sharp new bike looked like nothing ever seen before. The model year was only left to feature the Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake as a new, cool system and it did, making the Yamaha R6 the most sophisticated middleweight super sport bike out there.
No wonder as it is powered by a cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder; DOHC, valves per cylinder engine and weighs only lbs wet. The fuel injection system features Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve SDTV system with dual fuel injectors per cylinder and new compact eight-hole, fine spray injectors so there is plenty to expect there.
Kawasaki super sport models may be getting uglier with each year that passes, but the performance is there, no doubt about it. In fact, this bike is a trendsetter as it as the first to feature such an aggressive riding position as well as an under engine exhaust. Overall, the bike is compact and has a very aggressive appearance quite frankly, it looks like it wants to eat every single flying creature that passes in its way.
The gas tank is low mounted into the Deltabox frame allowing the rider enough room to squat under the windscreen in those high-speed rounds. The factory tweaked its D-Mode engine mapping feature to help you manage said power and hopefully keep the power delivery synched with pilot skill level. Also new from is the Quick Shift System that lets you run through the gears even faster to get the most out of whichever mode you prefer.
TC, RbW, and ABS all make an appearance in the electronics suite, and the suspension comes with an array of adjustments to make this an all-around, top-shelf bike. After a fairly major update for the model year, the popular FZ dropped its American name and runs with the same MT moniker as the rest of the world. Looking at the MT head on, I find myself have expecting it to transform into some kind of new Decepticon. Most of this is due to the twin LED headlights set in eye-like recesses with an alien-looking flyscreen up top.
An LED taillight comes tucked away under the subframe with the LED turn signals and tagholder mounted out on the minimal spray guard. The flattish saddle area helps contribute to the bulldoggish, all-up-front stance that leaves the MT looking like a sprinter crouched at the blocks. The factory borrowed heavily from its YZF -R1 superbike program.
The frame on the MT bears those genetic markers with an aluminum Deltabox configuration that delivers crisp handling with a measure of rigidity in all the right places to help it remain stable under aggressive maneuvers. KYB provides the suspension front and rear with a pair of inverted, 43 mm forks up front and a piggyback monoshock to tame the swingarm out back. The oversquare engine runs a 79 mm bore and Lightweight forged pistons and fracture-split connecting-rod ends make up the reciprocating components in the bottom end with dual over-head cams to time the valve head, four per cylinder.Install npm mac brew
And why not? The Z carries itself with much the same look, though it goes to a different extreme than Yamaha with more in the way of curvature to the lines and a saddle that puts the rider in the bike more than on it. The Z is a bit naked- er due to its lack of hang-on panels and easily visible engine.Europe asia border google maps
Yamaha really brings the pain in the engine department. I can see that. The bike seems taller than it is because the tank is really wide and takes up a lot of inseam, so shorter folks will be bouncing from toe to toe and taller folks might be tippy-toeing more than they are on other bikes.
It feels very sportbike-ish in the seating position, and once you twist the throttle, you really feel the R1 influences. I was plenty impressed on standard mode. Read more Yamaha news.
